L’objectif de ce cours est de proposer une analyse de la démocratie latino-américaine en se focalisant sur l’étude de ses dimensions politiques. Pour cela, on présente un premier axe est centré sur le processus de construction historique de la démocratie, en identifiant ses tensions constitutives en vue de sa stabilisation. Un deuxième axe portera sur différents enjeux déterminant les défis actuels qui marquent l’expérience démocratique dans le sous-continent latino-américain.

 

On propose d’aborder ces thématiques à l’aide des outils méthodologiques spécifiques de la politique comparée. On présentera ainsi les tendances régionales distinguant le sous-continent, tout en se focalisant sur la singularité des expériences nationales étudiées

Migrations internationales

Ce cours vise à proposer les clefs d’analyse sur les enjeux des migrations internationales au 21e siècle. Il abordera les grandes dynamiques migratoires dans le monde puis reviendra sur le cadre et la gouvernance de ce phénomène au niveau international, européen, national et local. Par ce biais, il permettra d’interroger l’impact des politiques publiques et des acteurs de ces politiques qu’ils soient institutionnels, non gouvernementaux, du secteur privé et les personnes exilées elles-mêmes.



Peace, Security, and Multilateral Diplomacy

This course on “Peace, Security, and Multilateral” aims to provide students with a thorough analysis of issues at the core of contemporary diplomatic practice, with a focus on the instances of multilateral cooperation and their role in the field of peace and security.

Through both a theoretical and a practical approach of the study of diplomacy, we will focus both on the history on international cooperation and on the most recent transformations in the conduct of international affairs.

Over 6 sessions of 3 hours each (18h), students will get the opportunity to better understands the specifics of multilateral diplomacy and what makes it different from traditional bilateral exchanges. By including the variety of international actors taking to the multilateral ‘arena’ (United Nations, European Union, African Union, OSCE, NGOs, etc.), this class aims to shed light on the contribution of international organizations to the management of global issues. Formulating new norms and values, these organizations directly shape the structure of the international political scene. Finally, this course will focus on the issue of the reform of multilateralism and its capacity to adapt to world order ongoing transformations and changing confrontations.
