This course provides an examination of the evolution of civil disobedience in the English-speaking world and its relevance in today’s societal and institutional contexts. Through the analysis of various case studies, we will investigate how social movements have driven societal and institutional change, and how these changes have, in turn, influenced both contemporary and historical social movements.

We will also look at how media coverage of social movements has evolved and how new communication technologies are changing the way people engage with and respond to these movements.
