An in-depth approach to the study and analysis of contemporary conflicts, the Conflict & Peace Studies course is designed to furnish students with essential tools for navigating the practical and theoretical dimensions of today’s violent political confrontations. The course will involve the study of the most recent works in the realms of war and peace understood as viewing them through the lens of a sociological phenomenon within the global order.
The course will be divided into two parts: lectures by the teacher and student participation through regular readings and individual and group exercises. Emphasis is placed on the importance of active and regular participation. Students are strongly encouraged to read the texts for each session and take part to the debates in class.
